Car Arena are pioneering a new way for dealers to buy vehicle stock in 2012, a year when serious stock shortages are forecast, especially with cars 2-3 years old. These stock shortages are predicted due to the low number of new vehicles sold since 2008.
It is widely acknowledged that private cars are a valuable source of replacement stock to motor traders and dealers. It is also accepted that many car dealers and traders do not like buying cars directly from the general public. They simply do not have the time to follow up their offers and they also have concerns with how cars may be miss described. Many Dealers prefer to leave this method of buying cars to the cash for car companies than try and pick those cars up from auctions or trade deals, where they have a little more confidence in a cars description or can view it physically.
With this in mind Car Arena has been transitioning over the past year from a company that supplies car dealers, buyers and traders with private car leads that they then have to make an offer on, follow up, chase, email, call and deal themselves; to a company that will supply the car information to dealers according to their set preference of cars for them to make an offer directly to Car Arena. Car Arena will then take that offer and negotiate, follow up and buy the car directly from the member of the public selling their car.
Car Arena will then collect the car and pay for it in full on behalf of the dealer.
Operating this way means Car Arena can inspect any cars on collection ensuring the dealers are protected from buying cars that have been described inaccurately. Cars can be collected from our secure depot by the dealers at their own convenience. By prior arrangement we will also be able to deliver cars directly.
By taking away the time consuming element of buying cars directly from the public and the risk associated with buying a “wrong one” Car Arena will be a vital source of stock for many car dealers in 2012.
Car Arena is now taking on new dealers who need vehicle stock and would like the convenience and security of the fully managed buying service offered by Car Arena.

If you are considering selling a car then please take a few minutes to read the below.
To get the best possible price then you may need to try and sell your car privately whether this be to friends, family or strangers. You must pay any outstanding finance off before you sell your car… a bit of chicken and egg situation here, as no doubt you need the money tied up in the car to pay the finance off. If you have a settlement figure from your finance company it may be possible for the buyer to pay the money direct to the finance company and the balance (if there is any) to yourself.
If you sell your car to a Motor Dealer or Trader they will settle the finance for you and pay you the balance.
What is the best way to sell your car?
Selling your car to Family – Can be one of the quickest and easiest ways to sell your car. If a family member has been saying let them know as soon as you are selling your car, ask them if they want it. Beware though (and ask anyone in the motor trade) family and friends could be your most difficult customers. If something isn’t quite right with the car, every time they see you they will mention and probably something else that they have noticed. If something major was to go wrong then take cover because they will be on the phone or round at your house without notice.
Advertising your car privately – Another popular way to sell your car. But like most things you get what you pay for, advertising your car for sale is no different. If an advert is cheap, it is probably because they don’t have the volume of readers or potential buyers to justify charging any more. Normally you would either advertise in your local paper or with Autotrader. Whilst these options are no doubt the best way if you are looking for the premium price for your car, you may have to be patient and re-advertise it a couple of times depending on how desirable your car is. You will also be faced with a lot of tyre kickers, test pilots, dreamers and time wasters in general. Who will expect your car to be in showroom condition and then and knock you down for the slightest mark. They will also bring along their own “Technical Expert.” He’ll draw up a list of jobs as long as your arm that need doing, eventually you’ll be pleased he only wants to knock £500 off the asking price!
Part Exchange – A great choice if your new car is with a dealer and they offer you a price for your car you are happy with, they’ll assess the car and make you an offer..simples. Don’t accept the first offer though, tell them you want more and don’t forget they will be making profit out of the car they sell you. Also if you are comparing deals with other dealers make sure you look at your total cost to change, not just what they are offering you for your PX. A small variation in the interest rates offered can make a massive difference to your total amount payable over the duration of any finance period.
It is also worth finding out, if they are using the pofit in your new car to subsidies your part exchange, could you get a better deal by selling your car elsewhere and having a larger cash deposit?
Selling your car online or direct to a dealer – a relatively new way to sell your car with many online cash for cars companies starting up in the past couple of years. Most of these allow you to enter your registration number on their web site, fill in a simple form with details such as service history and condition online and value your car for free. Whilst you won’t necessarily get the highest price for your car, this method is virtually hassle free and the transaction could be done and dusted within 24 hours. Don’t give these companies any excuse to knock the price down when the car is presented to them. Be honest about the condition, tyre tread and service history and the deal should go smoothly. Try and find a company that pays you by Chaps transfer (this normally takes about 20 minutes to process) and if possible one that collects the car. If you’re on home ground then they have already committed to the sale by sending a collection driver, their negotiation position will be substantially weaker than if you were to take it to one of their drop off points.
Car Arena can help you sell your car online, just enter your details once and we will circulate your vehicles details around our hundreds of subscribing dealers, allowing you to compare offers in one location, without the need to complete multiple different site submissions.

Worried about selling your car online?
Worried about selling your car to someone who hasn’t even seen it?
Worried about agreeing one price only to be “chipped” back when you take the car to the drop of point?
If you have answered yes to any of the above hopefully we can put your mind at rest here, as selling your car online can be one the the easiest, quickest, hassle and stress free ways to sell your car.
Obviously you probably won’t get the same as what you may get selling it privately…but we must stress the “may”. When selling privately you have all the costs associated with preparing your car, then advertising it, dealing with the countless time wasters and test pilots and perhaps still not selling your car and having to re advertise it.
Selling your car online is as easy as it can be, in some cases your car could be paid for and collected the very same day.
When a car is listed on Car Arena, it’s details are then available to hundreds of our dealers who will then make offers on your car. If your car is particularly desireable you may find you have dealers competing to offer you the best price to conclude the deal.
As long as you are honest in appraising your vehicle then the price you agree over the phone should be the price that is paid into your bank account on collection. Notice paid on collection, not when you take the car to them! Beware of companies that ask you to take your car to them and pay you either when they have sold the car or those that say payment takes 3-4 days to clear.
Car Arena’s advice is to not release your car or V5 registration form to the buying dealer until you have either the cash in your hands, the cleared funds in your bank account or proof that the payment has been made in full to settle any outstanding finance attached to the car.
Try and get the dealer to come to you, this way they will have committed their time and money to the sale and less likely to try and chip you back for a couple of minor scratches or car park trolley dents. Obviously you need to be honest when you are describing your car over the phone or on the online appraisal forms. It is the dealers right to decline to buy your car if it is not as described, remember what may seem like a large scratch or scuff to you probably won’t cost the dealer that much to get repaired as they will have trade deals on this sort of work. Better to be honest up front and then you know the offers you are receiving are genuine.
Beware of those well known companies making high offers compared to everyone else, especially if they are asking you to drop the car off with them. They may have a buyer lined up for your car, hence the reason they are able to make a high offer. But sometimes an unusually high offer could be just to try and tempt you to their drop off points where they feel they wil be able to reduce their offer upon inspection.
Following a few simple rules should make selling your car online a pain free process;-
1) Be honest in your description/appraisal of your vehicle
2) Try and chose a company that collects from you.
3) Ensure you are paid in full before you release your vehicle and V5
4) Don’t take the first offer!
5) Don’t be bullied if you think the buyer is being too picky on any faults that you consider fair wear and tear.
Following these few simple rules is a must for anyone thinking “I want to sell my car online” and will, without a doubt make the deal progress smoothly.

What is my car worth?
A question everyone asks at some point, whether that is just before they buy a new one, as soon as they have bought a new car, when they are thinking of selling it or even when they are simply just renewing their insurance quote.
Valuing a car correctly takes years of experience, knowledge of the current market conditions and access to the latest industry guidelines.
Anyone can look in the local and national advertisements to get an approximate price, but just because the cars are advertised at these prices doesn’t necessarily mean that is what they are worth or what they will sell for.
Many websites may offer you a value on your car with the caveat that it is for “information purposes only” – would they put their money where their mouth is and suggest the same value if they were offering to buy that car?
Industry experts use their years of experience, recent trends and industry guides such as Glass’ and CAP to assess a cars worth. They will look at the cars condition, service history, mileage, number of owners and the colour to arrive at their valuation.
Using the industry guides alone without their own knowledge would be foolish and quickly lead to a dealer or trader losing substantial amounts of money and even going out of business. When you consider some traders spend Millions each month on what is a relatively low margin industry. One mistake in buying a car at the wrong price could lose them thousands and it would take many good deals to make up for this loss.
Looking at May’s “book” would see a 07/57 Range Rover Sport 2.7TD HSE with 41,000 miles given a guide price of £28175, what it doesn’t tell you is that currently within the trade, typically these cars are fetching £3000 – £4000 behind the “book”. This particular car also fell £400 in value from last month. Other cars fell by over £1000.
Car values are unpredictable at best at the moment. Auctions houses are full of unsold cars as people are still keeping a tight hold of their purse strings. If you have received an offer that is one you are seriously considering, whether that is from a Car Arena dealer or a better offer elsewhere than it may be worth accepting that offer. Towards the end of each month dealers may be quite reserved in the offers they are making knowing that the “New Book” is out and until it is no-one can really predict which way the market will turn.
On average prices of used cars reduced by 2% in May, it is widely anticipated June prices will fall by more than that.
Car Arena’s advice is if you are thinking of selling your car and if you get an offer, whether that be from a private buyer, your local dealership or a Car Arena dealer, that is pretty close to what you were hoping for then you should take the deal on the table. Don’t think that by holding out a couple more weeks will increase the value of your car, it won’t if anything it will reduce and that reduction could be substantial in many instances!

Here at Car Arena, our subscribing dealers really do buy any cars. We have dealers only interested in cars less than 5 years old and other dealers that will buy virtually anything!
One mans scrap is another mans fortune, well perhaps not quite but there are many cars that other cash for car companies perhaps wouldn’t touch. Car Arena may be able to match you up with a Cash for Cars buyer for your older car that perhaps you thought you would struggle to sell.
Other cars that can be difficult to sell are those more specialist cars such as Bentley’s, Porsche’s, Rolls Royces & Ferrari’s. Our mix of subscribing dealers means we can normally help you get a genuine offer for your prestige car.
Because we have such a rich mix of subscribing dealers, from right across the UK we may even have a dealer close to you.
By upgrading to our premium listing we also guarantee you will get an offer for your vehicle.
All of our dealers sign up to our usage guidelines, we ask them only to offer what they think the car is worth. They don’t offer more than the car is worth to then reduce their offer when they collect your car. Providing you have been honest when describing the condition of your car then there’s no reason why any of our dealers should reduce their offers on inspection.

When you sell your car to Car Arena you don’t have to wait four days for your money, you don’t even have to wait 24 hours.
When we come to collect your car, you are paid in full by secure bank transfer. This normally takes around 15 to 20 minutes. Our collection drivers wait with you until you are able to confirm that the cleared funds are in your bank account. There’s no additional charge for this, it’s your money and we believe you should have it before you release the car to us.
If finance is outstanding, we clear this in full, sending the receipt and any the balance to you before you release the car.
If there is a shortfall between what you are selling your car for and how much is owed on the finance, we take the shortfall by credit or debit card and then clear your finance in full. Again we send you proof that the payment has been made to your finance company.
There’s absolutely no risk when selling your car to Car Arena.
