Virgin London Marathon

I had to share this, Max one of our Directors is running the Virgin London Marathon to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, a disease a family member suffers from. He has a target of £2000 to reach, and has written a poem to try and persuade people to part with their money in aid of this great cause:

Very nervous as they inform me I’m in
I‘ll be running the marathon sponsored by Virgin
Really excited but my stomach feels funny
Got to start training and raise lots of money
I have to turn myself into a running man
Now is the time to prove I can

Look good in my new marathon running shoes
Only happy thoughts and not those training blues
Nobody knows the pain in my feet
Don’t give in keep pounding the streets
Of course it hurts when I’m passed by the Ford, Honda and Land Rover
Now I can’t wait for this latest run to be over

My aching limbs I carry into the bath tub
As the bubbles soothe me I give my feet a rub
Raising the money though will make it all worthwhile
And thinking of the finish line makes me smile
To think I’m doing this gives me a sense of pride
Huge expectation with nowhere to hide
One day I’ll look back and fondly recall
Never giving in and (hopefully) not hitting the wall!
