Half of Britain’s motorists disagree with the government’s proposal to increase fixed penalty notices from the current £60 to £90, according to research from the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

Under the plans, the £30 increase will used primarily to increase funding for victims of crime and to bolster witness support schemes. But, the majority of those questioned disagreed with the proposal (51%), while only 35% agreed, with 13% neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

 

When asked if any extra funding raised should be spent on improving road safety as opposed to victim support, 80% of respondents agreed. (Read More)
