The Alfa Romeo 159 is a beautiful executive car - available in four door saloon or five door form - which first rolled off the production line in 2005 as a replacement for the outgoing 156.
Marketed as a stylish alternative to the dominant German cars in the sector, the 159 quickly caught the imagination and was placed third in the 2006 European Car of The Year awards before featuring in a number of high-profile films over the next few years, most notably in the opening scenes of the 2008 James Bond smash, Quantum of Solace! In addition, the Alfa Romeo 159 is also a prominent vehicle on the touring car circuit and is also widely used as a 'safety car' in motor sports events.
Available in a wide-range of versions, the 159 gets ticks in most of the important boxes from motoring critics, rating particularly highly on looks, comfort and safety. Even entry models come highly-equipped and - given the prestige of the Alfa badge - it has always been very keenly-priced.
All that said, sales figures for the Alfa 159 never quite scaled the heights expected outside of Italy and production of the vehicle has now stopped, with a replacement model expected in 2014.
